The mayor of Talgar, Arystanbek Abilkhairuly, has announced his voluntary resignation due to health reasons. His message to residents was published on February 11 on the official Instagram page of the city administration.
In his statement, Abilkhairuly expressed gratitude to everyone who supported him during the elections, noting that the trust of citizens placed a great responsibility on his shoulders.
According to the outgoing mayor, health issues forced him to take a period of medical leave. After careful consideration, he decided that stepping down would be the most responsible decision to ensure that his condition does not interfere with the proper performance of official duties.
Abilkhairuly served as mayor for just over one year. During his tenure, the city implemented a number of initiatives aimed at socio-economic development, infrastructure improvement, and enhancing the quality of life for residents.
He also thanked the head of the Talgar district, colleagues, local residents, and community elders for their support, adding that he plans to remain involved in initiatives benefiting the city.
Arystanbek Abilkhairuly has held the position since December 2024. Prior to that, he worked in the municipal services sector and served as a member of the local maslikhat. He and his spouse are raising four children.
The mayor gained nationwide attention after one of his TikTok videos went viral, attracting followers not only from Talgar but from across Kazakhstan. He previously stated that social media allows him to share his daily work and communicate more directly with the public.
